WANDA STANG
ABOUT THE ARTIST
In her works, Wanda Stang deals with the cycles of life, transience and also with the brief human happiness in existence. She wants to express this expression of an emotion, of a feeling in its full, opulent form. A kind of maximalism in the picture. It is an attempt to fathom the human soul and to capture its facets in paint. These basic ideas give rise to surreal pictorial worlds that have their origins in reality, but always endeavour to look beyond it. Her protagonists are stereotypes that should enable the viewer to find themselves and their own story in them. Untainted by real experience and the history of the templates/models, this enables her to create a completely new world. She always tries to preserve the feeling that these moments leave behind and then translate the whole thing into painting.
