ABOUT THE ARTIST​

In Käte‘s art, the reference to the place and the moment in which it is produced is an important feature. She often combines what she sees with what she feels in a humorous, statement-based way in her very personal aesthetic of diagonal, energetic stripes. She uses all sorts of materials for this, some found on the street or taken away from their actual purpose and converted into stickable strips. This creates an overall picture that is colour-matched to the location, with situational messages highlighted with neon colors and holographic iridescent elements. She is concerned with depicting energies, thoughts, an in-between that she sees very clearly and would like to make visible to the viewer. Shaped by the experiences in this big city and the view she has of it. An appeal to those magical moments in which the fragile individual existence in this society is undermined by small gestures of human togetherness and becomes a sublime feeling of community.
