MOCX
ABOUT THE ARTIST
During his school days, Mocx Dabbert was not exactly considered to be focussed and liked to be distracted by his imagination, which stood in stark contrast to reality. Born in East Berlin in 1973, he found his training as a car mechanic in grey bus stations gloomy, but during this time he discovered painting as his alternative language and continued his education as an autodidact.
"With his compositions of abstract coloured space and thoroughly shaped details Mocx broaches the issue of nativeness and an environment modelled by culture (...) In painting, he has found a language beyond verbalisation. His works open up the path to a in-between-world (Zwischenwelt), which, as Paul Klee states "exists between the worlds our senses perceive".
